Whether you’re sports fanatics or about to become “Mrs. Coach,” you may have considered adding elements of the game to your big day. We gathered some of the best ideas from coaches’ wives and have put them all in one place (right here!) to help spark some inspiration for you!
Let’s start with planning the big day. Think outside the box and consider using a ticket as your save the date or invitation, like this from Bride, Sami (Jess Maslyn Photography)
You may be tempted to find a rustic barn or traditional church for your ceremony. But think about how awesome it would be to say, “I do” literally on your own turf. Whether it’s the football field, basketball court, or baseball diamond, you may be able to have a beautiful ceremony packed with personality and for a fraction of the cost!

During the ceremony, there are other creative ways to incorporate your love of the game. One groom wore his call sheet on his wrist to read his vows.
Another couple tied in their love of football by using a football helmet as their guestbook.
One groom and his groomsmen huddled together then assumed position to collect the rings.
Before the reception, your wedding party can snap a few more fun pictures in the gym or outside playing around. This is a great option if you really want some fun photos but prefer a traditional ceremony.
Then for the fun part: the reception. Enter the celebration by running through your own break through banner as the DJ plays the Space Jam Theme Song or Welcome to the Jungle (See list of best sports songs here)
Let your groom show off his skills by throwing a football with your garter wrapped around it.
And of course, let’s not forget the cakes! SO many creative things you can do, but here are a few of our favorites!

Lastly, the table decor and favor options are endless! Pom poms, bouquets of pennants, old trophies spray painted in your wedding colors. We love these koozie wedding favors and footballs...Check out those mini Heismans!
Of course, no wedding is complete without a proper send off! While sparklers and bubbles are standard, we love when brides kick it up a notch. You could give everybody pom poms as they wish you farewell. Or gather your favorite baseball team and have them create a tunnel with their baseball bats.
I hope this post got your creative juices flowing as you continue to prepare for your big day!
